The cotton pieces were such an intense labour of love. 6 months learning how to embroider with this technique in Guatemala. 

I chose rappers because in a godless society where celebrity and wealth rule, rappers sit at the top of the tree. I came up with a scoring system to explore why we worship and idolize these people, but with opaque and strange words, because like any religion, it shouldn't be clear and factual but something based on feeling and faith. 

Tapestry and embroidery are most suitable for serious and sacred imagery but there is also a greater resonance in using cotton, given America's troubled history with cotton picking.
